Roadhouse is a 1950's American Retro venue, playing live music from the 70's to the 90's. They also have a bar and an American themed restaurant which hosts a 1952 Harley Davidson motorbike as its centrepiece as well as original signs from the 1940's and 1950's. They serve a variety of cocktails, wines and beers and a selection of foods including ground beef burgers, pizzas, fajitas and desserts.

Roadhouse London Reviews

Disco in a diner - I really like The Roadhouse! It's in Convent Garden square. Got there about twelve, and the queue outside was pretty savage. If you're going here on a Saturday, be sure to show up earlier than that. I walked down the stairs to get in, and immediately marvelled at the pleasing view. It's what you might get if Happy Days knocked up Saturday Night Fever.

The entry fee and drinks were very expensive (£12 entry, £4 shot of sambuca, £3.50 bottle of beer). Definitely not a student place! (average age was perhaps 27). The place sprawls out over a large space, sectioned off into several distinct areas. There's the shot bar to the left on the way in, above which hangs a very old Harley Davidson. There's a few bikes hanging around actually. I like bars with lots of interesting stuff to look at.

In the middle, up a few stairs, is a very large central bar. The staff here appear to be some kind of genetically enhanced super-bartenders. They are that breed that gets off on high pressure environments, serving about 16 people at once, lining the bottles up and flipping the lids off in sequence. Like Tom Cruise in 'Cocktail'. I find that incredible. I cannot understand how people can do that.

Down the side there are diner style tables, which are really cool. I liked the American diner aspect of it. I want to come here with a few friends wearing a beige cardigan over a shirt and tie, to gossip about girls and get dating advice from an Italian guy in a leather jacket.

At the back and to the left there is a stage where a live band played (which I believe became a dancefloor later). The band were cool, a covers band playing your favourite guitar songs. The music before and after the band was the standard commercial fare.

The dancefloor is at the back, but is largely irrelevant as the whole entire venue became a giant dancefloor with bars around it. And there were many bars around! There were also many women around.. could be a good venue to find yourself one, if that is what you are looking for. There were men there too, of course, and many appeared fairly sleazy. Actually, boy or girl, you're almost guaranteed to get your arse pinched a few times as you walk around the venue.

I actually went here once before, maybe a year ago. Through the daytime a friend and I met a flyerer while walking around Covent Garden, who gave us a flyer entitling us to a free drink! No entry fee, no strings at all. We thought that this was a pretty good move to get people in the bar, and spending money, but resolved not to fall for that; to get our free drink, then leave. We ended up buying loads of drinks, food, and inviting another friend to join us. So much for not falling for marketing ploys. I bought these prawn things on sticks, they were nice.

It's good clean fun if you can afford it.
