L'Escargot acts as a tribute to modern art, with Chagall, Miro, Matisse and Hockney hanging on the walls. Picasso has his own room upstairs. The interior compliments the food, which is French and consists of risotto, rabbit, wild mushrooms and cheese. There is an extensive wine list to wash it all down with. Catering for private parties of up to 60 guests is available upon request. The restaurant has a Michelin star.

L'Escargot London Reviews

Sacre Bleu, Mon Ami! - Went here for a girls' night out meal and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Eight of us were very luckily seated around a round table, so we could all catch up and gossip like we wanted to.

It's very swish and fancy in here, so I wouldn't advise you turn up in your trainers - you'll probably get some odd looks. Of course, if you like that sort of thing, then there's no problem.

The waiters are all French - and unlike the actual French in France - are all very attentive and care for your dietary needs. There were two vegetarians at the table, but not much vegetarian choice on the menu and a very lovely waiter suggested the meat dishes that weren't very meaty, so they can get the meat removed and have vegetables/rice instead.

There were orders of (of those I can remember) risotto, lamb, Guinea fowl and gnocchi - and they all looked very tempting. The food is served with such class and grace, sitting on the plate as if it's royalty all on its own. Each and every dish was served with love and care - and you could see that. So much so, you were afraid to ruin the master chef's work by tucking in!

I, personally, ate the risotto and loved every bite. I don't recall seeing a plate on the table with food on it when we were done. For afters, we all shared a cheese plate - of which you receive the tastiest selection of British and French cheeses. Just the ticket to end a scrumptious meal.

Only issues that marked this place down for me were the snooty types that tend to occupy restaurants like this one (please don't tell me to shh in a restaurant that's heaving with people, and have six more people on my table than you do!) and the amount of food/cost of food ratio. I'm not tight in the slightest, but the portions are small.
