Tinseltown 24 Hour Diner London Reviews

Don't be lured by the milkshakes! - It was a Saturday evening in January and we were round at Fluid bar for a friends leaving drinks and decided mid way through the evening that we needed a quick fix of some food. Searche on my iphone for what was around and Tinseltown came up. Authentic milkshakes and burgers - it seememd promising. Despite the fact that most of the tube lines connecting that area were down that evening, when we arrived it was really busy. We had to wait a bout 10 mins to be seated.
The first warning sign should have been the menu - it was vast with every conceivable type of burger you could imagine, halal and kosher to boot. We ordered milkshakes and burgers and as advised when we arrived paid in advance of our food arriving. Shakes arrived first and I have to say were good. I had a Dime Bar shake which was delicious and had been devoured before the food arrived. Service was fine. Nachos followed that were very ordinary and then the burgers which was truly awful - and so much of it too!! Cheap patties that didn't taste of beef and those buns that just decintigrate when you start eating them. I had a chicken burger which wasn't much better. Afterwards we all felt rather ill from the experience.

My advice - avoid it completely and go to the Apium noodle bar round the corner instead. They may not serve a milkshake but you'll feel so much better for it.

Downhill - I've been here twice after going to Fabric (just around the corner) and had mixed experiences. Having been once before and had a fair quality milkshake, I was surprised to see that when I visited again, the shakes were served in plastic cups and tasted pretty uninspired. The food (nachos) wasn't fantastic either.

Watch out for large queues, especially around Fabric closing time and at the weekends. Not really worth the wait.

Not the milkshake Kelis sung bout - For some reason Tinseltown came highly recommended to me. I know never to trust that person's tastebuds again!

It's very dark in here and there are some cool booths that you can sit at, but the food is of the quality of a bad Chicken Cottage.

The 'legendary' milkshakes taste like Nesquik, but then I equate good milkshakes with thick ice-cream and quality ingredients. A burger joint that can't make a good vanilla milkshake is a bit laughable. For a really good Oreo milkshake head to Bean Juice on St. Christophers Place instead.

I think it's all halal and open 24-hours so very popular with the Fabric overspill and Muslim student community, but I would never ever go back there. Unless you paid me.

Food that fast has to be wrong - Yes the food is pretty cheap and the decor is kinda cutesy kitch but if you eat the burgers here you might regret it the next day. We were trying to squeeze in some food before a movie and were desperate for a quick bite, so this seemed like a good choice. But to be honest McDonalds probably would have been better (and I've not eaten there for years). The burgers are massive - a couple of beef patties plus bacon, cheese and lots of toppings served with a plate of fries. This monster burger might seem appealing to some, but both boys in our group gave up with half a burger left on their plate. Waste! Also be wary of the milkshakes. One friend ordered what turned out to be cookies and cream ice-cream churned in a glass, in which the straws stood upright. We left for our movie feeling very full and slightly sick. The next morning the memory (and nausea) were still vivid.
