An Excellent Choice - I went to the Singapore Garden with my boyfriend after a trip to the cinema and had a nice time. Tucked away from the High Street, the restaurant looks like a 'date venue' - most of the clientele were all dressed up and might possibly mean making a reservation on a Saturday evening as it was packed when we went.

The meals are somewhat pricier than you might want to pay for a Friday night Chinese in front of the box - approx £35/head without wine - but the portions are generous and the service satisfactory. The food was good, and came out quickly; it was a nice experience.

Not an earth-shattering culinary nirvana, but most agreeable. 09-03-09

Desperate Choice - Apparently, Singapore Gardens is an award winning restaurant (Carlton restaurant awards best Oriental restaurant). Occasional meal there is OK, and desperate takeaway too (there are only about 3 restaurants within a reasonable walking distance). But you have to be selective to actually get a quality meal that has not been cooked 50% with oil. Not the best value for money either, but good enough for "civilized" or should i say boring meals, quiet enough for business meals too.
