The Queen's College was founded in 1341 by Robert de Eglesfield, Chaplain in the household of Edward III, and his wife Queen Philippa, in whose honour the college was named. The library contains a collection of rare books and carvings by Grinling Gibbons. Past members include Edmund Haley, Rowan Atkinson and Brian Waldon. The college is well renowned for its sports.
