Merton College was founded in 1264 by William de Merton, and is one of the three oldest colleges in Oxford. The college has attractive gardens that include a terrace walk which is known as "Dead Man's Walk" because of the shootings carried out there by order of Prince Rupert. Past members include Lord Randolph Churchill, Max Beerbohm and T.S.Eliot.
