Pubs should be like this! - This place is a gem, off beaten track in Shoreditch/Islington, strangely decorated with large model airplanes, and so far as avoided the now standard gastro-makeover. I've been a number of times always alone, always drinking Litovel Red (maybe the best Czech lager) and the place always makes me happy. The staff are friendly, attentive even managing a little conversation here n there. Like most pubs, fills up on a Fri, what what seems like a mix of locals, some of which have probably been coming here for years, and a various hip types who probably work in the area.

Upstairs is a theatre, where at the time of this tip had on The Hoo-Hah Conspiracy...Secret Cabaret (whatever that is), and in general runs an “eclectic mix of art and entertainment in what was once a Victorian Music Hall for the likes of Charlie Chaplin and Marie Lloyd”, it’s run by Cecilia Darker and Cleo Sylvestre.

Rumour is the food quite good, will try it sometime and report back.

Refreshingly the
music is the taste of those
