maze-like poetic pub - By Way of Kensal Green, a poem, I am told, is a charming huge gastropub in Kensal Green. It's three stories, with a dance floor upstairs, a dining area, a beer garden, a private room that looks like a library, and more that I didn't manage to see.
We were there on a Saturday and it was very packed, so I didn't manage to really appreciate the place as I would have like to.
There are statues of a crying disappointed Mary, angels looming, books and faux vines with canaries in cages. Sounds goth-ish, but it's not.
I would love to go there on a weekday when it isn't too crowded. It was very big, so i imagine it would actually be nice to hang out there for a comfy afternoon, to read or have a bottle of wine.
prices were good, atmosphere was lively, crowd was very friendly

Recently Refurbished - the refurbishment of this pub has made it very posh and attracts a hip but casual crowd. The decore is old French mixed with Old English. The restuarant out the back serves great english cuisine. We went for Saturday lunch and they had a mixture of scrambled eggs with Smoked Salmon, to Steak, and salad.

There are also a few little rooms you can tuck yourself into, one which feels like an old Library.

The Regent across the road is also worth stopping into for a drink if you are in the neighbourhood
