Mercedes B Class - I bought a mercedes for near enough £7000.00 in November 2014 with only 31000 miles and initially all was good and helpful, i asked if the auto gear box had a service in amoungst the norm and i was told yes as it was due. I did not take out their RAC Warranty as it hasnt got particular good reviews and so i took out my own...
about a month and a half later the gearbox would occassionly jump when trying to pull away and so i contacted harringtons and was told PAT Would get back to me- He didnt.. So rather than possible damage to anything further by driving 70 miles to them i took it to the local garage and £250.00 later i was back on the road and no harringtons had not serviced it! Cut a long story short i have tried on numerous occassions to get hold of pat only to be fobbed off and on the last occassion the receptionist was very rude! i now have a car still being fixed for a new gearbox valve body! £2000.00 and without the Mercedes for over a month now!

beware of being overcharge! - Had to take my car into Harringtons as an emergency breakdown. Only needed a small part fitted (as per advice from the breakdown recovery). Was charged £65 labour and 3x over the top for the part plus VAT(having researched the market for 'real' prices). Tried to negotiate the price down over the phone before picking the car up - was told to speak to the proprietor when I got there. Upon arrival was presented with a bill 2x the size of original quote - saying this was for 'extras' they'd done that had not been requested by me(i.e. oil change!). Upon complaint, they reduced the bill down. In the confusion, it looked like I was paying for more work they'd 'kindly' done at reduced costs. When I left, I realised that I had just paid the original bill with the inflated price for the part - but it looked like I had paid far less than I should have because of their 'game-play' with the larger bill including all the 'extras'! These 'extras' were probably never done anyway - but just used in a con negotiation! So, I later realised that I had actually been duped and left paying the same original bill! Beware if you use them - they may do the same to you!
