Kerala has mastered the subtle use of spices, testimony to the centuries of constant innovation in the use of spices. Cooking with fresh ingredients which was grown in each homestead's own backyard.

Great food. Glacial service. - Don't go here when you're hungry, the food took well over an hour and ten to arrive!

The food itself is fantastic, but there's a problem when the introductory page in the menu mentions they're aware of customer feedback that their food takes a long time to be served but then fails to mention whether they're actually going to do anything to address this.

The 'sorry, fresh food takes longer line' hides (in my opinion) a broken process that could be made far leaner.

That probably sounds pretty harsh, but with food this good it's a real shame the whole dining experience is ruined by how long it takes them to cook their food. 20-03-08

Not your average curry... - The Rice Boat is a very different experience to your average 'Curry Night Out'. The food is from the Kerala area of India. It's more aromatic and fragrant than typical curries, leaning towards the Thai style. The restaurant is modern and airy, but service can be very slow and they often employ staff who's first language is not English so that can make it hard to get their opinions on the food.

The food itself is always served in extremely tasty, if rather small portions. We tend to take a lucky dip approach since we aren't familiar with many of the dishes. They can be very spicy :-) I very much enjoy the Rice Boat and look forward to returning for another lucky dip style meal. 17-01-08
