Hamish Macbeth drank here - One of only two bars in the beautiful village of Plockton (the setting for the early 90's drama Hamish Macbeth) the Plockton Hotel bar reflects the local atmosphere: Eccentric, peaceful and a bit spooky . There is money stuck all over the walls - I asked if this was a local tradition and the barman replied ' Nah, it's just something the tourists do' - large amounts of currency abound. The tartan carpets add to the kitsch decor. The food on offer is supurb - try 'smokies' cheese and fish - like mini fish pies, a local speciality. Being on a loch, the local food is influenced the by sea, plenty of seafood on offer. Beer - clean pumps mean a good solid pint - even carlsburg tastes good under the right conditions.
Another important factor - the locals - were friendly and genuinely interested in our visit, if you ever find yourself in the area, it's well worth a visit.
