Best Asian food outside of Asia - You know a restaurant has pulled off something remarkable when you forget you are in cold, dark and stormy London simply by turning your back to the door.
Thang Long is a tiny place away from the lights and noise of central Camden, an oasis of calm serving up superior Vietnamese food by candlelight.
Good South East Asian cuisine is something of a rarity this far west, which is what makes Thang Long so special. The flavours are all perfectly balanced - including the chilli - and the dishes are filling without being heavy.
The red snapper was "almost as good as catching and cooking it myself in asia" according to my partner-in-crime; a simple fried noodle dish was outstanding; and the traditional Vietnamese salad was fresh, crispy and delicious.
The attention to detail in the food here is particularly noticeable, from the perfectly crispy scatter of peanuts to the wafer thin slices of garlic, the finishing touches really round off some fantastic dishes.
And to top it all off further the prices are wallet-friendly, including the imported beers and wines.
I can quite comfortably say I have not had a better Asian meal outside of Asia, in fact I have had worse out there. Superb.
