Don't get your hair dyed here - So..where should I start.
I used to visited the Wimbledon Broadway HM. The haircuts are fine and I had a lovely stylist who did a fantastic job. She understood my hair type (fine, a lot of it, breaks easily etc) and my hair color (a level 5/6 brunette).
I used to get highlights but they I got fed up of the roots.
So one day I decided to dye it back. My old hairstylist was no longer there. HM claims they keep all your details on record- which should also include my VIRGIN hair colour (I had never gotten it dyed until I went to HM Wimbledon BW). They clearly did not.
So, I got the color on...trusting them to get it right...and it came out almost black. I was horrified. I looked wiped out, witchy etc. It was honestly about 3 shades too dark.
I almost cried and the lady insisted that it was my natural color and I wasn't used to it...err no. I know my natural hair color (I had only ever done half a head of highlights AND I'd only had it highlighted for 2 years). She clearly thought I had forgotten my natural color and was laughing at me as I was next to tears.
The next day I marched straight back and the guy lightened it by ONE shade. It took almost 7 hours (no joke). It still was too dark- but I knew it would fade and at least I didn't look ridiculous- I just looked as though I had 'fake hair'. However, when I mentioned it was still too dark to the guy, he looked at me like I was crazy as my hair color was matching my eyebrows. Note, I am a brunette whose eyebrows are REALLY dark, but not thick- and whose eyebrows are darker than every other hair on my body (apart from my eyelashes!). My hair has always been loads lighter.
Anyway, luckily I went in the sun shortly after, the hair faded a lot (THANKFULLY) and it was a beautiful color close to my natural color. As it grew out there were NO roots etc showing.
I'm now, over one year later, back to my natural color (apart from the last 2 inches). I'm of half the mind to walk into that salon and show the girl who laughed at me what my natural color is like- it's definitely not DARK DARK brown, and it's more a medium dark brown (it looks light in natural/bright lighting, dark in dim lighting and has natural caramelly light brown highlights).
I'm never ever going back there again for hair coloring (or treatment- they gave me a treatment which made my hair flat, sticky etc. It was horrible until it finally washed out). I know they tried to correct their mistake- but they could have gotten it right to begin with despite the fact that they should have had a record of my natural color even if they couldn't identify it from my roots.
I'd go somewhere else with a dedicated color technician who knows what she or he is doing- but never ever back here.
