The Lion, situated on Stoke Newington Church Street, has a big screen for sports, cocktails on the menu, and an alternative venue upstairs, which you can hire for free. They don't make food themselves but will order it in for you. There are lots of tables and the bar, which stretches out in the centre of the room, has a stained glass window behind it.

Where to watch the match! - This is one of Stoke Newington’s pillar pubs. Right bang in the centre of Church Street, it’s unmissable, known, and probably frequented by everyone in the area at some point in their time in the area. Aside from the fact it’s a great, standard boozer, it regularly shows televised sporting events - predominantly Premiership and European football matches during the football season – and is established as one of the main venues in the area for this due to the pub’s layout, with its central bar and perfectly positioned screens on 3 walls. It gets pretty packed when any of the Big Four are playing, especially Arsenal given Stokey is fundamentally Gooner territory. The vibe and atmosphere is always energetic and good humoured; it’s definitely a fun, impassioned place to experience this in. And ten marks out of ten to the brilliant management and bar staff whose awareness, patience and ability to maintain exceptional service; multi-tasking to meet the demands of the hordes when they’re thirsty (very) and at the same time more focused on what’s on the screen, is worth going for on its own. Good selection of beers, and Nobby’s Nuts.
