THE Italian restaurant in Pimlico! - UNo is THE local Italian restaurant for Victoria/Pimlico as far as I am concerned. I work by Victoria station and with no shortage of Italian options (all of which I've tried) I don't even see a comparison. The menu is far more inventive, the ingredients are fresh and exotic, and the atmosphere is far more relaxing. They don't rush you when you go for lunch, even on a busy workday. Try the pizza and beer for under a tenner; it's fabulous and they are not your average pizzas. Last week I had the Bacio (gorgonzola, pear, and walnuts). Seriously, this restaurant is a hidden gem. 26-02-09

UNo my cure for Monday blues - UNo has become my Monday night regular hot-spot for dinner. I’m a huge fan. I went for the first time just before Christmas for a pre-holiday catch up with one of my girlfriends. We wanted to treat ourselves to something indulgent – without breaking the bank. A colleague of mine recommended UNo. It was perfect. The experience was utterly refreshing! The menu was packed with creative goodies and your classic Italian standards. The restaurant staff was friendly and knowledgeable – just the right mix of attentiveness and giving us privacy to gossip. The food was plentiful and delicious. I had the grilled vegetables and couscous as a starter and the pan-fried calf’s liver with mash and onions as a main. You could just tell the produce was fresh and the chef knew what (s)he was doing. The atmosphere itself was trendy, yet warm and inviting. The bill was really reasonable – the two of us had a starter and a main each, shared a fantastic bottle of red, gave a healthy tip and got change from a 50 quid note! Since then my girlfriend and I have gone back nearly every Monday night as a treat to cure the Monday blues. I highly recommend it!
