If Someone Sencha Here, Ceylon By - Firstly, apologies for the terrible punny title. I'm kind of sleepy and I'm probably lacking the pun-restraint I might otherwise have. Anyhow, onto the review...
Given the cool location right on the Strand across from the Royal Courts of Justice, and given that Twining's has quite a long storied history behind it, I had high hopes for this store and museum. Sadly, if the new ads with Stephen Fry didn't disappoint enough, the store/museum certainly will.
Twining's provided my first introduction to Earl Grey many years back, and, despite having tried lots of other brands and boutique versions, Twining's is still my benchmark. Unfortunately, the store has the same selection you'll find in any supermarket - not a single novel product that I could see, and the 'museum' was so small and boring that I nearly didn't even see it. And there was no tea aroma to the store, barely a scintilla of sinensis scent to be sniffed (I have no idea why I decided to alliterate there). Unfortunately, the new line of coffees overwhelmed what little tea aroma there could have been.
