O2 Store Market Street - My friend wanted to set up a phone contract, but did not have his bank details on his person. Instead of allowing him to return the next day, the shop assistant decided to convince us that it was possible to give a friends details (mine) and later change this on the phone. He lied through his teeth (i can only assume through a lust for commission. When i only had my sort code, and no account number on my person, he enhanced his lie more so and said that since we were to change the details he would make up an account number himself.
His mistakes led him to set up a contract in my name rather than my friend's, and also put down a false account number.
This, after we found out later that day that it is impossible to change the account details due to credit checks, landed us in problems regqarding the contract. Obviously the phone would get disconnected as the details were false.
Now, over a year later, i am still in dispute of the debt with O2 who are trying to charge me rather than my friend, who can do nothing to help since his details were disregarded by the shop assistant. I have received many bullying phone calls from their debt collectors.
All the problems i have encountered are due to the mis-selling of the contract by a single member of staff, who seems he would have done anything to make a sale. This behaviour was appalling, and i am glad to have learned my lesson, although the matter is yet to be resolved. I would like to warn everyone about the staff, and Mr James Eastwood in particular. Hopefully he has leant his lesson and O2 have taken steps to make sure he does nothing similar in the future.
The time and money this will have cost me, O2, and their debt collectors in total will be absurd by the time it is sorted (if it gets sorted).
