Gastro Grub - I have had mixed experiences at Ealing Park Tavern - sometimes it's great and sometimes not so good. Last week it was a bit of both at the same time! Great starter of lobster salad - small but delicious followed by a steak which was a bit of a let down. It was a very fatty piece of meat and though tender enough it had a slightly unpleasant oily taste to it which I found a bit off-putting. I had ordered it with cauliflower on the side ( instead of chips) but got a ton of broccoli instead because they could not serve the cauli - odd, but we presumed it had been burned! I just watched my friends eat dessert - they looked good and the plates were all got cleaned!
We had a house wine which was fine - but I noticed some of the wine list has gone over the £50 mark. Very expensive for a pub however gastro and on this particular experience the food does not match up. But as it's one of the very few grown-up places to eat in Ealing I will doubtless be going there again - better luck next time! 22-02-10

A solid banker! - A fantastic gastro pub that is consistently great. The hallmark of any restaurant, especially one outside of central London, is how busy it gets on off nights. Certainly, the EPT seems capable of drawing people in any time, any day, which is testimony to the varied menu and their commitment to excellence. It has the ability to deliver whether the occasion is special, or perhaps you just don't fancy cooking one Sunday and feel like being pampered instead.

The style matches good English tradition i.e. solid oak tables, brushed chrome with a thoroughly modern European cuisine. The menu offers fresh, seasonal choices, supported by the odd classic dish which still feels contemporary, in spite of it's familiarity.

There is outside dining available in summer (when we have a summer), and a pub over the other side with high ceilings, wooden beams, and a selection of speciality beers and ales.

The only possible thing that I could pick them up on is the limitation of the wine menu in the restaurant, which could do with being refreshed. Don't let that deter you though; I can think of few places that I've eaten that are so reliably good as the Ealing Park Tavern. 20-08-07
