The Old Bell Tavern was built in the 1670's and has been a licensed tavern for over 300 years. Its worn appearance gives it a lived-in, cosy atmosphere. The rear leads out into the courtyard of St Bride's Church. Bar food is served between Midday and 9pm. They also provide satellite TV as entertainment.

The Old Bell Tavern London Reviews

Beer bounty - This is a great pub in a cool location. It fronts onto Fleet Street, but it backs onto a tiny lane behind St. Bride's Church.

St. Bride's Church, also known as the journalist's church was designed by architect Christopher Wren for the workers building St Paul's Cathedral to worship. Its "wedding cake" spire became known as such after a baker decided to use it as the model for a cake he made.

Builders not only need a place to worship, but a pub! The Old Bell is where the St. Paul's workers drank.

It is still frequented by some of the few journalists left working on and around Fleet Street and other city workers. It's usually packed in the early evening, with people standing outside in the back passageway.
