The walls surrounding the City of York were built in about AD71, when the Romans made a settlement at the junction of the Ouse and Foss rivers. By the 3rd century, a town called Eboracum was established. The Multangular tower is the only piece of the walls to include original Roman masonry. The Multangular tower is situated within the museum gardens. The opening times are for the tourist office who organise walks and tours of this attraction.
