ARROGANT and RIP OFF - The experience I have made with Simply Sewing shocked me absolutely. The charged me 140 pounds for altering 3 pairs of suit trousers (shortening and waist).
I was naiv and paid straight away. I researched for other tailors in Oxford and found one with better conditions. So I went back to the shop and asked for refund and cancellation of my order. The Polish blonde girl refused to do so as "no refund" - policy and her boss was not in that day.
She was absolutely arrogant. Not customer friendly at all. I offered 10 pounds for circumstances incurred of cancellation which she also rejected.
DON'T GO THERE! RIP OFF!
They even told me alterations would take two weeks time!

Rude, Exorbitant, Not Punctual - I asked to have my bridesmaid dress altered. Just for taking in the sides and hem up, they charged me 95 pounds (!!!), but I reluctantly paid as I was flying off to the States for the wedding soon.
When I went to pick up the dress the morning of the pickup date, THEY DID NOT HAVE IT READY!! They told me they can get it done that afternoon. When I expressed my discontent with their service, the man yelled, "I DO NOT LIKE YOUR ATTITUDE, I could give you your money back!" thinking I would not have the time to go to any other shop, I'm sure. But I asked for my money back. Best decision ever to get a refund and go somewhere else.
I got the alterations done in Washington, DC, where I paid less than half the price for a private seamstress.

Rude and ignorant - The woman in this shop is rude and ignorant. I wanted 3 trousers taken up - it cost £45 altogether. ( I am not sure what the going rate is ). After three weeks - I turned up to collect (was told they needed 2 weeks to do the work). I hadn't brought my receipt with me but didn't expect it to be a big problem. The blonde women there was just so rude - she hardly even looked and said she couldn't give it to me because I hadn't the receipt - the manner was so unpleasant but I didn't create a fuss.
The next week when I came back with my receipt - she picked up my trousers which were on a hanger over her head! I just couldn't believe it - and said exactly that - She let loose a tirade of abuse - pointed at a load of papers on the walls - shouting about the rules of the shop! The whole experience was utterly unbelievable - I just couldn't believe what an unpleasant rude and ignorant person she was - it turns out she's the manager too!
I had no problem with being turned away (if done pleasantly) because I didn't have the receipt but in this shop - they have no regard for their customers. My advice - try somewhere else if you value customer service and simple courtesy!!!

Beware of Rip-off !!! - I was charged 20 pounds for hemming a pair of wool trousers and then when I wanted to have turn-ups and a tape (absolute standard for a dress pant), they charged me another 10 pound. So I ended up paying 30 pounds for a simple alteration. Since I am not from England, I was at that time not aware of how much would be a reasonable price for a simple alteration like that, and they must have figured that out. There is no price list in the shop displaying fixed prices for their services, so I guess they just make up their prices depending on the customer. And I even had to wait for 2 weeks for this alteration !
I would strongly advise against having your alterations done at "Simply sewing" ! It is a pure and shameless rip-off !!!

Not so Simple - RIP-OFF. Don't go there. They saw I was a young girl who could be easily duped. They charged me £25 just to sew a hem on a skirt, claiming that it had to be hand-sewn and therefore costed more. Hand-sown or not, that price was ridiculous, especially as in sewing up the hem they messed up the back of the skirt so that it started sticking out in funny places, meaning that I had to have it repaired again - elsewhere for a fraction of what Simply Sewing charged. And even more outrageous was the £45 just to sew up a small hole in a skirt. Ok, it was slightly tricky because it was frayed, but when the exact same thing happened in another place on the same skirt, I had it sewn up somewhere else for SIX POUNDS - a bit less than 45? I can understand having to pay upfront, but I don't need to be told to do so in a suspicious manner, and then receive the shmooze only once I've paid. Not nice people. Just out there to catch you, especially if you're a young student whom they see they can swindle.
