Punjab Indian Restaurant London Reviews

Delicious food and great service - A good friend originally introduced me to Punjab and ever since it has been one of my favourite restaurants in London. The service is regularly attentive and prompt. The owner is usually roaming the restaurant, ready to great you when you enter the restaurant. Even when I haven't made a reservation, Punjab has always accommodated me in short order. The restaurant is larger than its front room belies, its a great place for a large party.

The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. And, you don't get the feeling that you've had quite a lot of greasy food when you've left, either. Although the food comes out quickly, this is the sort of place where you like take your time to enjoy your food. On the whole, this is a good place to go for a leisurely meal with good friends.

Everyone I've taken to this restaurant has gone back again and again.

Curry in no hurry. - After a cold winter stroll, my boyfriend and I decided to treat ourselves to a warm South Asian meal. After looking over the menu outside, we made our way inside. This is a beautiful sit down restaurant. No tacky decorations, it's romantically lit, and has cloth napkins. It was pretty full on a Friday night.

When seated, I enjoyed reading the part of the menu about the owner being an apprentice of a top chef in India. Apparently, he had to work for him for years before the chef would even teach him how to fry an egg properly!

Though I'm akin to the serve yourself kind of Indian place, their service is really kind. There are plenty of people working, so you don't need to worry about finding a waiter. Need another fork? Don't be afraid to ask. You'll have it in five seconds. My glass of water was never more than half full! They had very attentive servers.

Their menu is big and you're bound to find something for you no matter what your taste; vegetarian, goat, chicken, lamb, spicy, mild, et cetera. Also plenty of naan and basmati rice! They also have a nice wine list, some Indian beers, and a bar! That evening we had the Cobra beer, so we would have an Indian beer to accompany our Indian meal.

When I'm having Indian food, it always seems like the portions look small, but there is actually more than enough food to fill you up! When all of it came out, I was so delighted! I ordered the usual chicken tikka masala, and my chicken was cooked very nicely! My biggest annoyance about most Indian food places is that they burn your naan. Not nice. But when the waiter brought it out, I was so happy to see that it was nice and fluffy. It was a wonderful dining experience.

Nice decor, great service, and great food make for five tip points!
