The Lamb London Reviews

Nice old pub on a lovely street - I'd never been to Lamb's Conduit Street before but it's well worth a visit for an evening, in addition to this pub - which is a nice old style boozer with a certain amount of charm, decent beer (Youngs) and pleasant staff - there are a bunch of other eating/drinking places around.

Pub was fairly busy for a Monday night with a mixed bunch of people and a generally friendly/buzzy atmosphere. I imagine it gets packed on busier nights of the week as it's not massive, and seats are at a premium.

Crush bar - Go on a busy evening and you'll be hard pushed to get served at the bar, crammed as it is with people waiting for a table at Ciao Bella next door. Love the Victorian privacy screens around the bar, but despite the no smoking ban, The Lamb still manages to convey the smell of tobacco and beer spilled on carpet somehow. Not conducive to a relaxing evening, but if you want buzzy, it buzzes.

Mary Had a Little Lager - Lambs Conduit Street is one of my favorite street names in London, although there is admittedly stiff competition (Poultry, for example). I just like the image of of a lamb conduit. This is the obvious location for a pub named "Lamb". Or perhaps "Conduit", but Lamb is a better name.

Lamb is another London pub that is probably older than my entire country. It is a Young's pub, so you are limited to the one brand, but Young's makes some good beers. The food that I have tried has been fine but not exceptional. Most people come here for the pub experience and not for food - although this is not a hardcore "eating is cheating" type of bar. Can get very busy in the evenings, but there is a nice patio out back and the street in front is generally peaceful.
