Geales Fish Restaurant London Reviews

All about the Fish Pie - Geales is awesome - it doesn't look much from the outside and even inside the decor is unassuming. Everything inside gives off the feeling of an authentic seaside fish restuarant right down to the super cheap tableclothes and photos of fishermen.

I have to say that this place makes the best fish pie that I've ever tasted - its just perfect - I can't recomend this plaice (haha) highly enough.

High Falutin' Fish 'n' Chips - Geales' is a great spot, kind of tucked away out of sight near the Notting Hill tube station. It looks a lot like it may just be a household on the block, but inside there is some real special fish and chips to be had.
The space, although a little small, is pleasant and homey, with some paintings on the wall and not really much flash. The menu, likewise, is pretty stripped down. There might have been items on there other than fish and chips, but I can't say I remember them, or would recommend anything else. There are several types of fish to choose from, and the list changes according to what is fresh in stock. Still, as I said, at the end of the day it's battered and fried fish, so who can really tell the difference? You also have great takes on the standard side dishes, and I'd definitely recommend the mushy peas.
Big chips, a big plate of fried fish, a filling helping of mushy peas, and one of the selection of beers (although as I recall there's no beer on tap?). What more could you want?
While downstairs is just the restaurant, and it does tend to fill up easily as there are not many tables, upstairs there is a somewhat more roomy bar which is a good place to kill time waiting for a seat below. I believe that they do serve food upstairs as well, but it would obviously be a somewhat different dining experience.
Prices aren't cheap considering how little you could pay for just any fish and chips elsewhere, but I'd say that it is worth the price for some real top notch nosh.
