The Museum Of Edinburgh contains a varied collection illustrating many different aspects of the city's history. There are also outstanding examples of local craftsmanship in silver, pottery and glass. The museum also boasts a collection of artefacts related to WW I leader Field Marshal Earl Haig. Located at Huntly House, this is one of the oldest and most interesting buildings on the Royal Mile. Dating from the 16th century, it was acquired by the City of Edinburgh in 1924 and re-opened as the principal city museum in 1932.
