Scott Was Keen For Us To Be Happy! - We had a 2-storey side extension and internal modifications to our existing house built by S M Berry Building Contractors Ltd (SMB) between July and October 2009; we are extremely pleased with the results. This was a major project for us and, initially, we had some concerns about undertaking such a substantial amount of building work.

We gained confidence in Scott from our initial meeting, his prompt written estimate and revisions (requested by us as we finalised our requirements). Scott was always prepared to discuss the estimate in non technical terms so we were clear about what was, and was not, included. We were offered, and we followed up, references from SMB’s previous clients and we were given a consistently reassuring view of the firm’s capabilities and trustworthiness. Having selected SMB we were confident enough to defer the start of the build while SMB completed their previous project rather than use a different contractor.

From Week One it was clear that the references were spot-on. Scott, Elliot and Jed arrived at 7:30am on the date agreed some 3months earlier and began work: from then on until completion of the project the team were on-site every day. This is Scott’s ‘single-project’ approach in action and it works well. Our neighbours remarked about the team’s friendliness, their constant hard work and how the site was always brushed and left tidy at the end of the day. Scott does a great job of managing the project: he made helpful suggestions on some design points that helped the extension to blend with the existing house. In our opinion the quality of the finished work is very good.

We are extremely pleased with the results and from early in the project it was clear that Scott was keen for us to be happy with the build. As we re-iterated to the team that this was a major, one-off project for us but Scott, Elliot and Jed ensured the project was relatively stress-free insofar as any major building work can be. SMB completed the project to our complete satisfaction, on budget and 10 days ahead of the target date we were initially given. We are happy to recommend S M Berry Building Contractors Ltd to potential clients who are looking at this type of project; we will act as references for SMB as we know this is an important part of the client’s decision and Scott has our contact details.

Wouldn't Recommend Anyone Else - Re: S M Berry Building Contractors Ltd

Scott Berry was recommenced highly to us by friends after his team constructed their upper storey extension a couple of years ago. Our build commenced exactly on time, despite this being in the winter when weather can be a delaying factor. Scott and his team (sons Elliot and Jed) were on site every day meaning that our build progressed quickly and with no delays. Scott's professionalism and ability to deal with potential problems made us feel we were in very safe hands right from the outset of the build. We changed our minds about several aspects of our build as this progressed and Scott was able to incorporate these changes into the work without any fuss.

Scott and his team arrived punctually at 7.30 am every day and kept the site clean and tidy, even going as far as sweeping the front step for us. They are very mindful that the ‘site' is your home and garden and treat it accordingly. They are completely trustworthy and we were happy to leave them with our door keys, access to the kettle and go off to work every day without any worries. The disruption to the rest of the house was kept to an absolute minimum and in terms of mess; our cat brought more into the house than they did. They were respectful of our neighbours and people commented on how considerate and polite they were, particularly around issues like parking and deliveries. The electrician and plumber working with Scott were similarly professional and reliable and their work was also carried out to a high standard and with minimum disruption.

We cannot recommend Scott and his team highly enough after experiencing their professional approach and high standards of building work and finish on our extension. Friends and family have commented on the fact that our extension blends into the existing building perfectly, not looking like and addition or afterthought. Our experience has been of a high quality, stress free build for a fair price. S M Berry Building Contractors Ltd will be our first choice for any future building projects. It speaks for itself that after dealing with Scott, Elliot and Jed we have not been put off having further building work done.

Dear Scott,

We are absolutely delighted with the extension you built on to our home. The quality of your workmanship is superb. Our neighbours, friends and a local builder have all commented on the excellent brickwork and tidiness whilst the project was underway.

We could not have wished for a more polite, conscientious and hard working team. Our thanks to you, Elliot and Jed for making it an extremely pleasant building experience. Even with the very difficult weather conditions you never failed to arrive early and cheerfully get on with the job.

Dave and Tony, your plumber and electrician, seem to have the same work ethics as yourself. They explained what they would be doing and worked hard and efficiently to get the job done. All round you have a truly brilliant team and I would unreservedly recommend them to anyone undertaking a building project.

Our new garage, lounge and en-suite bedroom all seem larger than we expected and have transformed the feel of our home. If you have other clients looking to do a similar project we will be very pleased to let you come and show them around.

Trustworthy Builder in Kent - Dear Sir / Madam
The extension on my house was carried out by S M Berry Building Contractors Ltd (Scott Berry). I found Scott's work to be of an extremely high standard and was very pleased with the final result.
Scott and his team are punctual, polite and trustworthy, carrying out the work without fuss or drama. My neighbours have all noticed and commented on how well Scott cleans up at the end of each day which has helped to make the whole process almost stress free!
My extension was completed within both budget and timescale (practically unheard of with other building firms!) I therefore have no hesitation in recommending him to you.

On prior recommendation we engaged Scott Berry to carry out a single story side kitchen extension which commenced at the end of May 2007 and was completed within four weeks, against an original estimate of six weeks.
The job was completed to a very high professional standard and all rubbish was cleared from site each day which allowed us access to the remainder of our home and driveway at all times. We were kept informed of progress practically on a daily basis and all the hassle of engaging plumbers, electricians and the council Building Inspector was never our problem.
We would not have any hesitation in recommending Scott Berry to carry out a residential property extension/development.

Scott Berry and his team spent nearly 3 months with us building our side extension in the early part of summer 2009.
Never having had an extension built before and after all of the horror stories you hear we were a little nervous, but Scott's friendly manner and concise yet clear quote made us feel comfortable enough to give him the go ahead.
After spending the first day or two at home with the team it very quickly became apparent that we had made a very good decision.
Scott, Elliot and Jed are Punctual (to the point where I ended up using them as my 7.30 alarm call) friendly, accurate, professional, approachable and above all work to a very high standard.
We share a drive with elderly neighbours who were unavoidably inconvenienced on a few occasions with the numerous deliveries of materials and skips but even they made a point of commenting on how friendly they found Scott and how nothing was too much trouble when it came to shuffling cars and vans around.
Each day the site was left tidy and clean reducing the disruption to the household to a minimum.
Scott's working practice of only having one project at a time means he can give his full and undivided attention, it was clear that Scott was completely on top of all aspects of the project at all times.
The whole project was completed 4 days ahead of schedule (despite us adding a little to Scotts workload with a 2nd soak-away and a change of mind on a dividing wall halfway through the build) and was completed exactly to the agreed budget.
We can honestly say that we would not hesitate to undertake another similar project if Scott were involved and we are happy to recommend him and his team unreservedly.
Even the dog misses them now!

Extension in Dartford Kent - Re: S M Berry Building Contractors Ltd

On deciding to have a two storey side extension to our house we set about finding a builder for the job. I had several builders attend and give quotes for the job. Scott’s quote was one of the more competitive prices but this was not the sole reason for choosing to use them.
From the first meeting Scott’s professionalism is apparent. The plans were discussed and any issues were quickly resolved with him. I wanted to make a few changes to door and window positions and Scott was more than happy to accommodate these changes.
On looking at Scott’s website it was clear that all of his work is carried out to a very high standard with complete customer satisfaction.
We are now part of this happy group.
From day one Scott and his two sons, Jed and Elliot, made sure the build went like clockwork from the first to the last day. Even the dreadful winter was not a problem with Scott able to work indoors when necessary. The team arrived on time and the site was left clean and tidy every day. The standard of workmanship is very high and has been commented on by all our visitors.
Neighbours’ even commented on how friendly the builders were and how punctual and tidy they were.
I could write lots more but this would only duplicate what has already been said by other customers.
I cannot recommend Scott highly enough if you would like a job completed on time and within budget with minimal fuss and stress.
