The Roastery London Reviews

Great, quality coffee - I love having a cup of steaming hot cup of my favorite coffee. The girl at the register is always happy to see me and I can see she is not polite only to me - it is obviously in her personality. All in all, great coffee at a very convenient location for me.

Great Flat White - Strange (but good) little place on the Wandsworth Road. Found myself there after dropping my car at a garage round the corner and having to kill an hour.

Staff are friendly and the coffee I had was just superb, so no sign of tasteless coffee here - so if there were some kinks - seemed to have ironed them out.

Food is all rustic - don't expect finesse - but it tastes great and that's what matters ultimately.

It is an honest cafe - a little rough around the edges - but with big heart!

fantastic coffee in Clapham - The Roastery does the best tasting coffee south of the Thames... in the same league as Monmouth and Vergnano.

The staff are very friendly and helpful.

The food is excellent (I'm a chef and a fussy eater).

Feel very lucky to have such a excellent cafe in my neighbourhood.

Great coffee, great people - I've become somewhat of a regular at The Roastery these days after becoming hooked on their coffee. The coffee is consistently very good and the staff are laid back yet attentive and very easy to get along with. I'm also impressed with the good quality of the food.

It's not just the coffee in the shop either. I have a very good coffee machine at home and the various roasts I've tried always produce a good coffee. And always with great crema. I can't believe the comment about dying or dead crema on this comments page!

Nice food, friendly staff.... - but the coffee was appalling.

I have heard very mixed reviews about this place, my trusted friends warned me off, and my curiosity told me to form my own judgement.

The staff were uber-friendly, the banana loaf was tasty and plentifull, but the espresso I received was firstly crema-less, over extracted, and bland. Now I can give and take a bit on flavour, but serving an espresso with a dying or dead in my case crema is a bad in my book. I also ordered a latte, and to be honest, the milk and pour of the milk were good, but it tasted watery and lacked in body.

The staff I think are decent barista, can texture milk well enough and are friendly. However, I was there when they were roasting their espresso blend, and it looked a little over-cooked, this was prob the main contributor to the nasty espresso.

I hope to visit again, and I hope to have a drinkable espresso on my next visit :)

Awesome coffee - This place has just opened and I have been in there a few times just for coffee and I have to say it surprised me how good it is. Smooth and strong. I haven't tried any of the food there so can't comment on that.

There is a Cafe Nero and a Starbucks within walking distance so it's surprising an independent shop has decided to start up here.

Their USP is that they roast their own beans on the premises in an old-fashioned looking device at the back of the shop. I wasn't sure if this would make any difference but believe me, it really does. Makes the bland chains' offerings taste a bit, well... bland.

It's possibly a tad on the expensive side, which possibly goes part way to explain why there never seems to be anyone in there when I go in, which is a real shame. And the cynic in me wonders whether it will still be there in 6 months time. I really hope it is.

The Cafe Nero down the road always has punters sat there and I guess that's because people have no imagination. But if you are in the area, I would recommend trying the Roastery. If you like your coffee you'll be pleased you did.
