Turtley Corn Mill has had a number of lives; initially, as you'd expect, as a corn mill and then for many years as a famous chicken hatchery before becoming a pub in the 1970's.

It was completely renovated in 2005. The style is light and fresh, better still there is no music, fruit machines or pool tables, just newspapers to read, books to browse, good food, great local beers and interesting wine.

Great Sunday Lunch - It's a little bit tricky to categorise this place on tipped as it's a pub, a restaurant and a 4 star hotel.

I went with 3 generations of my family for lunch on Sunday and we all really enjoyed it. I had a superbly satisfying beef roast but they do have a good range of around 20 meals to choose from as well as many local beers.

The atmosphere was nice and tranquil in the bar area, no music and quite busy with people - it's obviously popular, at least on a sunday. The service was very quick and helpful.

The desserts were also great, I had a delicious sunken chocolate cake that I could barely fit into me but couldn't resist. They present you with the option to order dessert to take away which I thought was a nice touch as they all look unmissable but the mains will certainly fill you up. 09-03-09
