cocktails at lunchtime - Okay I have an admission to make. In the spirit of anti-globalisation and for the good of variety and independent businesses I mad a rash New Years resolution that I would stop eating in chain restaurants and bars, and instead find those gems of places no-one else knows about that depend on your custom to survive and therefore value their customers more. I have failed. The credit crunch is making all the offers and food vouchers around too good to miss, and before I knew it we'd arranged a birthday lunch at Las Iguanas on Wardour Street. For £10.50 each we had two courses of great food, an alcoholic beverage and got seated served and fed within an hour's lunchbreak. Not bad, not bad at all. Add to that the 7 hour happy hour from midday that gives you 2-4-1 cocktails and I'm suddenly wondering what my problem was with chains. When the food is this good and cheap and the service is so friendly and the cocktails are so tasty...who's really losing out. Don't tell me, I don't want to know. I've stuffed limes in my ears...la la la la.
