Memories of childhood - When I was seven years old i was sent away to a boarding school on Overhill Road, Dulwich. The Edward Rudolf Memorial School was a wonderful place to be in total contrast to the hardship of my family life.
One of the loveliest things we were able to do was frequently visit Dulwich Park. It holds so many memories for me and I have been back to visit many times. I truly believe it to be one of the nicest parks to be found anywhere.
Nostalgia is a remarkable thing but few places can engender in me the feelings that this lovely place does. To walk the paths, around the lake passing squirrels and Weeping Willow that were there in the 1950's just brings back treasured memories like nowhere else.
So much has changed in this world over the last fifty years or so but Dulwich Park remains pretty much the same. And so it should!
I would love to hear from anyone who spent time at the school during the period 1956 to 1960.

Peace and Tranquility in Dulwich Park

Anything but Dull - One of my favourite parks in London. Beautifully kept and lovely and quiet during the week (well, except for the hilarious bugaboo pram busters exercise class which occasionally zips round), Dulwich park is an oasis of calm which brings together all sorts of different people. A main carriage way loops round the park, but you can go off-piste through the wooded dog exercise area or into the interior where you will find well kept flower areas, a children’s playground and a fantastic cafe serving some great coffees, cakes, sausage sandwiches (great for hangovers), organic food and even alcohol for frazzled parents. The park can get busy at weekends with football players, runners, occasional horse riders, and numerous crazy/recumbent bikes and which can be hired out near the main entrance.
