Don't believe the marketing lies - I recently had the unfortunate misfortune of hiring Sterling Builders to renovate my house.
Everything started off well (i.e. they started immediately) but it all soon took a turn for the worse. After two different 'teams', multiple prices increases and delays of over a month I'm now left with a house that has malfuntioning hot water in my shower, cracking tiles in the bathroom, poorly fit and scratched oak floors, a heating system not functioning properly, electrics that don't meet legal codes, no CORGI certificate and numerous jobs left unfinished. To say I am unhappy with the service is a massive understatement.
I have now had an electrician in to sort out the electrics and ensure it is safe (an exposed live wire was left hanging in my kitchen at the exact height of my two year old son) and meets regulations. I am also having the oak floors replaced so that they meet what I was promised in the first place. The additional jobs left by these cowboys are going to cost me several thousands of pounds to set right.
I've been in touch with the Trading Standards body and they are currently undertaking an investigation.
Sterling Builders seem to be fronted by a marketing strategy based on websites alone. In fact, over four other businesses are all tied together and I can only assume run by the same dodgy character. For reference, these companies are:

If you are considering using this, or any of the above companies, I would strongly recommend you steer clear. Spend the time finding a reputable and legal building company as Sterling Builders is obviously not just that.
