Allans Organic Patisserie London Reviews

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE - I endured some terrible service here. When it came to paying, the manager short changed me. When he eventually gave me my money, he decided to follow me out of the cafe and on to the street. As he did so, he yelled at me about how rich he was and how he did not need to short change me.

On top of this, he then started shouting that he was so rich that he could OWN me. He repeated this a number of times.

Now we have all endured rude staff... but for the manager to say that he could OWN HIS CUSTOMERS... it's so surreal!

Avoid at all costs. Even without this horrible incident, the cafe is not worth it: clueless staff, overpriced and un-exceptional food, day-old salad. Yum.

Excuse for a restaurant - What a place this is. I was shopping in Oxfordstreet with my family because we were on a short trip to London. On Oxfordstreet someone was spreading flyers so we thought let's give this place a try. We were in for an anticlimax. This started with a waiter who did not understand the order of a couple of drinks, i.e. 3 coca-cola's and one bitter lemon. Then came a younger girl who brought 3 coca-cola's and 2 slices of lemon with her. We tried to place a order for a meal (4 x spaghetti Bolognese) but she had no pen with her. (Tried to make a joke of this by saying that I didn't have it.) After a while she returned with three dishes and no cutlery. She placed the food on the table and we waited. After some time she came back with the 4th dish but with three sets of cutlery. We waited and after asking a third waitress if we could get a fourth pair of cutlery. We waited and waited and the food got cold but finally she returned and threw the fork and spoon on the table. Finally the four of us could start to eat. After a while my daughter said she had nausea and stopped eating. Because I was still a bit hungry I ate some of the dish from my daughter but noticed it tasted different from my own dish. I asked my wife if she tasted something strange but almost immediately she spitted out the food and said it had gone sour. Discretely I told the male waiter that there was something wrong with the food and he replied that we could get another dish which we declined. We left rightaway. Stupidly enough I voluntarely paid for the other three dishes but I should have gone away without paying after all this. An incredible experience.

Shockingly bad - Stay away from this place. It is very well located and vaguely appealing, but that is that. Everything goes downhill from there.

1. Schizophrenic decor. Is it french, north african? But some english breakfast, italian and curry on the menu...
2. Menu really not representative of what's on offer
3. Staff mostly pleasant, but absolutely clueless. They are all obviously new. In my opinion, it is a combination of issues with staff retention and poor training from management.
4. Not baby friendly at all. No high chairs, no changing tables.
5. Place is cramped, so much so that people and waitresses constantly bump into you.
6. Toilet is clean. But if you are in there too long (because you are changing your baby perhaps) then a member of staff will come and bang on the door...
7. Plastic glasses. Enough said.
8. Food is disgusting. I had a lentil soup which I could not finish. Blend and watery. Tasted of chalk.
9. Passed hot food and boiling pot of tea above baby’s pushchair. thank goodness I didn’t see that first hand, but told afterwards.

We didn't care that much and just wanted to get on with our day, so went to pay and leave. But that's when things just went from bad to worse. Their card machine didn't work. One member of staff (probably manager) started to get very rude. I told him it wasn't on, calmly and politely. Cutting the story short, I was accused of being dishonest because I wouldn't pay (we weren't even afforded the time to check if we had the cash between us, which ironically we had) and that I was completely mad. Rude, humiliating and threatening behaviour. One of the waitresses offered me a bar of chocolate, which I refused. Left shaking from stress and in tears. Ruined my afternoon. Stay away.

Don't go here! - I took my elderly mother-in-law here for a new year's day treat. It was a freeeezing day, but the front door was wedged open. The staff are protected from draughts by the presence of a high counter, but the cold blew straight through to where the customers sit. After being seated for some time and realising that the door was not about to be closed, I asked a member of staff, who seemed to be in charge, if he would close it, which he did, for about three minutes before he fully opened it again. My mother-in-law gesticulated from the back of the room that she was very cold, and he just blew kisses at her!!!!!! When I went to pay, I said again that it was very cold where we had been sitting, and he suggested that we get more exercise, offering to give us the name of the gym he uses!!!!!!!!! This to an 87 year old woman on a freezing cold day. And a happy new year to you too!! What a selfish a***hole!!!

Disgusting food and service - DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE! I came to this cafe with hopes. I ordered a spinach and feta pastry (something I often order in cafes and have never not enjoyed) and it was the most disgusting thing I've ever tried to eat. After two mouthfuls I couldn't eat any more. The pastry was like leather and the filling (which was virtually non-existent) tasted really nasty too. I very discreetly and politely took it back to the counter and said that I couldn't eat it and didn't want anything else (my stomach had been completely turned by the food). Nothing more was said. When I came to pay I handed the money over for the drinks we'd had. The owner then very aggressively said I had to pay for the food, saying that he couldn't sell the slice of pie on again. I explained again (very calmy and politely) that I couldn't eat the food and my girlfriend (whose family run a restaurant) suggested that we should not have to pay. He then ran round the counter and slammed the front doors closed and started very aggressively threatening to call the police. We then had no choice but to pay for the food that had barely been touched.
