So-So Pub in Camden - Went with some friends for a drink on a lazy Sunday afternoon and we ended up at Lock 17. The bar has a nice location immediately beside the canal, although you will sometimes have to navigate past the various peddlers trying to push some hash into your pockets. Still, once inside you can enjoy a nice view over the water and watch people traverse the canal on that little bridge that always looks like it should be about to break.
The bar itself is not terribly large, but it has some comfortable seating in overstuffed couches as well as a set of raised tables by the windows and another separated room with a half dozen ordinary tables. All of the place is done up in old wood, with lots of exposed beams and joints (not the kind you might have picked up from one of the pushers by the canal).
The bar itself is pretty standard with only one real departure from the ordinary fare: Red Stripe on draft, which satisfied my need for a beer other than Stella or Fosters. They also had a very generous pour on my friend's glass of red wine, so I suppose that is a nod in their favour. Still, there's nothing particularly noteworthy about the place other than its location, and the plate of nachos that my group shared were a very unusual version that I wouldn't necessarily recommend - they had been doused in BBQ sauce and included what appeared to be a salad on top of the chips, which also seriously skimped on the melted cheese.
Basically a rather plain bar in Camden, which is trouble considering the number of alternatives in the immediate area.
