The jargon of art - It was a windy Friday evening and it was raining. Maybe not heavily but still the rain was touching our bodies and brains...One of my art-oriented friends decided to make my day ( although I had very good mood but shshshs...) and took me to an extraordinary place. Unfortunately, I can't precise where exactly...The only thing I know for sure is that it was next to Hackney Wick station so it'd be better if you print a map ( I'll reveal the details later on)!
Anyway, I don't want to keep you in suspense- we went to The Wallis Gallery that is situated in the one of Hackney's warehouses. Apart from really funky (?) exhibition (The Jargon of Landscape), one had a chance to see Dziga Vertov's 'Man with a movie camera' with live accompaniment. To be honest, I was really impressed with the atmosphere of the space and people who weren't conceited elite (with all respect to artists) but normal guys eating borshch with little ears (yes, it was being served there!). Everybody was so natural, washing down their frustration with beer and simply enjoying the art!
I'm not sure if you can still admire The Wallis' installations but you can visit their website to find out. (www.thewallisgallery.eu) Damn! Those people got me all squirrelly inside and it felt soooo cool....
