To be avoided at all cost - Avoid this joiner at all costs. To sum up we got him to change a staircase in June. After hesitating between pine and oak we opted for oak which was more expensive. The work was meant to be completed while we were away on holidays and when phoning him a week before we returned it was obvious that the troubles were only starting as we had to insist for the staircase to be fitted before we came home since the old ones had been removed. As we came home it was clear that the 2 men working on site had no idea what they were doing. First it appeared that the joiners had taken the measurements wrongly, meaning that the staircase did not fit. They tried however to fit it in. Marc refused to come and check on what his employees were doing when we ordered them to stop and argued we should give him a chance to complete the work. The steps were of different width and high. I could only put half my feet on one of the steps and I'm size 3! It was so dangerous once the plumber almost killed himself as there was no balustrade. He had to remake the strings. We were then in October.
Also we were so disappointed to see that only the stairs were in oak and the strings in pine despite paying a considerable amount more to get oak. He argued oak was not solid enough to support the structure!!!
Our next issue was the glaze panels which were still missing........ As usual, joiner assures their on the way..... In the meantime we tried to get the stairs stained and varnished ( we actually had to insist on this as he assumed we should be doing it ourselves). The wait started again... He was supposed to bring some samples for us to choose a shade... One week... He's got his son and cannot make it...two weeks... He's had a tooth removed and is in a lot of pain... Three weeks...
In December we decided to get someone else to complete the work. We managed to get the details of the glaze company to get the panels.. Thanks God we're still alive despite having no balustrade for 4 months. We found out that he never ordered them and that the company wasn't working with him anymore for obvious reasons.
