Always busy, this Chinese restaurant chain serves a variety of authentic dishes and offers a takea way facility. This branch has 3 function rooms and provides pavement seating.

Dim Sum on the River - Finding a place to eat near Canary Wharf on a weekend can be tricky. Most places are closed, and the open places tend to be the same chains you see everywhere. Canary Wharf can feel so empty on weekends I half expect to see tumbleweeds blowing down the street, but Royal China is packed full of people going for dim sum on the weekend.

I'm not a dim sum expert, mostly because I got scared off it for about 10 years after multiple bad experiences with MSG, gristle, and chicken feet, but I have been enjoying it lately, particularly because London has some really good options (see, e.g., Pearl Liang - http://www.tipped.co.uk/listings/75469/Pearl%20Liang).

Royal China has a mixture of really good fresh dim sum (radish and pork dumplings, yum) and some of the scary (probably authentic) stuff too that I don't quite understand ("spare ribs" that were 99% bone and gristle, 1% meat, and 100% gross, not to mention the ubiquitous chicken feet that I didn't order). Other than the rough going with the spare ribs, every steamed item was uniformly delicious, and I've tried some of their noodle dishes as well with good results.

Nice atmosphere on the weekends: everybody is in a good mood, the place is always bustling, and the views along the Thames are great particularly given how affordable the food is.
