Large choice and location - I am a resident in Wapping and have found the location of the Waitrose very convenient.
I agree that the store "feels" more expensive, but if you just look around, there are also cheaper brands.
I tested the eggs and chicken, as they were given as examples, and they are about the same price that Tesco online and Ocado, i.e. 6 eggs between 1.30 and 1.80 pounds depending on the type and brand (large, medium, organic...)
I indeed appreciate the choice that it gives in terms quality, you can buy regular cheap brand or vinegar as well as top quality balsamic extract.
You can excellent cheese or meat from the dedicated counter, or buy a cheaper version on the shelves. Also they have a quite nice wine list!
My only comments would be about the friendliness of the staff, very uneven depending on my visits, from extremely rude and "the computer says no" attitude, to very friendly and helpful; and about the opening time, it could benefit from a 22 closing time especially on Saturday, and an earlier Sunday opening...

Wapping Monopoly - At first glance, the Wapping Waitrose seems to be in a totally random location. However, since there really aren't any other supermarkets nearby, and there is a bit of a posh element in Wapping (Helen Mirren lives there), so it makes a lot of sense. And it probably makes a lot of money too, given how it seems to be constantly busy.
My complaints are minor - most everything is very good if a bit expensive - but sometimes the selection is too limited to only super gourmet items. For example, I would like some options on eggs that don't cost crazy amounts of cash. I don't really need to know the exact breed of chicken, if it wanders clucking cheerfully under lush alder trees, or if it enjoys moonlight walks on the beach and the novels of Italo Calvino. I just want some decent eggs for fairly cheap that aren't going to give me salmonella. True, there are some cheaper mini markets in Wapping, but come on, I'm lazy and can only be expected to go to one store per day. Hence the genius of the Wapping Waitrose and their veritable monopoly on the area.
