How to go back to the forties? - What a place! I turned back the clock to 1940 and it wasn't my hallucination. ...We went to Black Gardenia in Soho to see Kitty La Roar & Nick of Time in their sensual jazz act.
The venue was magic for me from the very beginning- first of all, because of the staff dressed up to look like from the forties. Clients were trying to look the same so that kind of vintage had a huge influence on the club's atmosphere.
The place is tiny and stylish. Red walls, mirrors, the piano and vintage microphone make the venue as retro as possible. The only things missing are cigars....
Black Gardenia hosts lots of interesting events so you can come across burlesque, freakbeat and cabaret nights or live jazz acts. Everything apart from the prices (Soho prices) is so unusual and avant-garde! It looks that time travel is theoretically possible in London... 23-07-08
