Worth searching for - First impressions were not good. The restaurant is located in an anonymous row of shops on an A road in a nondescript North London suburb served only by a bus route. The restaurant comprises of two blandly decorated shop areas, not knocked into one as one might expect but separate rooms connected only by a doorway. The atmosphere within either of them is somewhat stifled, the small size causing a sense of intrusion with ones fellow diners.
The complaints stop there however. As if to make up for the unfortunate inadequacies, the service is such that you are made to feel like royalty on arrival. The menu prices may lead one to suspect that the food is only average Chinese fare - not so. It is of a quality far higher than the prices would suggest. This reviewer has paid significantly more at better located Chinese restaurants for a lower standard of cooking.
The evening meal, at the time of writing, was £13.50 for a three course meal; a platter of hot Hors D'oeuvres, crispy aromatic duck, plus a main course comprised of any five dishes from the main menu. That anyone could still be hungry after this is hard to imagine but more dishes can subsequently be ordered at no cost.
The restaurant also offers a weekend daytime buffet for the ridiculous credit-crunch busting price of £6. It is supposed that the proprietors will move to a more financially rewarding location once this establishment has cemented their reputation.
