Best Coffee Shop in Islington - The new Tinderbox is definitely much improved, so much so that it’s now the only place I go in Angel. If they would bring in Square Mile coffee - http://squaremilecoffee.com/ - and Barista training this place could go to 5 star. The coffee/drinks are better though. I think in part because they’ve started promoting their ‘latte art’ which forces the Barista to take more care when making the drink. I’m sure it was just a marketing move, but it helped. The issue remains consistency among the various staff. The space is killer though, really big, well designed, with an amazing terrace. It’s a pleasure to spend time there reading, thinking, or in my case hanging out with my new baby. They still don’t have free wifi, but I’m sure that’s a smart move in this part of town, otherwise every seat would be taken with kids on laptops.

Espresso...by the kilo! - We struggle to get decent fine ground coffee for our machine at home....tinder box grind to order which is a great economical way of getting freshly ground coffee perfrect for espresso at home!

Hit & Miss - I really want to love Tinderbox, they seem to want to project everything that I want a coffee shop to project, yet I can't help think its not quite right. I get the impression they cut corners a bit, everything looks bought in - yep I can see there isn't much kitchen space, but everyone can make a little effort. Where they seem to want to excel and build their reputation is the coffee, but for me its always been hit and miss. This place has definately improved over the years, and its certainly popular. But I never get anything off the staff, and sometimes I feel I may as well be in a Starbucks. I will keep going back though.. just not sure why?
