The Monument was erected in remembrance of The Great Fire of London in 1666 which started in a bakery on Pudding Lane. It is the tallest isolated column in the world and with its winding staircase of 311 steps which takes you to the top platform, the view of London is truly breathtaking.

The Monument London Reviews

Scaffolding - My seven year old has just studied the Great Fire of London at school, and so was really keen to visit Pudding Lane. Having persuaded him that the bakery would probably no longer be there, we told him that we could go and see the monument there.

Imagine his disappointment when we turned up and the place was covered in scaffolding. There is certainly no point in going there at the moment as there is absolutely nothing to see.

Perhaps we will go back when the scaffolding has gone an have a better experience.
