The Cinnamon Club London Reviews

a posh indian - Having grown up on wonderful home-cooked Indian food, I’m quite fussy about the Indian food I will eat – no Brick Lane curries thanks.

The food here is really superb and tastes more like the food you get in India than what you will find in take-away – no oil or grease! My carnivorous partner enjoyed the marriage of British gamey meats with Indian style cooking and as you’d expect from somewhere serving Indian cuisine the vegetarian options are really well thought out and tasty.

We went once on my boyfriends birthday and they bought out a mini-platter of desserts instead of a cake. I wished I hadn't already ordered and had my dessert. I don't know if they still do this, but if they do, make sure you save some space!

Check toptable for some good offers. I think we got three courses from the set menu and a cinnamon bellini (yummy) for £30.

The ambience is really nice, although I took my parents once on a Saturday and it was EMPTY. Which made me feel a bit uneasy. Definitely one for weeknights methinks.

Yummy but Pretentious - I went here on a blind date so my opinion might be a bit skewed. It was delicious; my date ordered me the set menu where they bring you a glass of wine with every course (and there are seven). Well I'm a small person and circa wine number three I was not able to consume another glass. The staff were not satisfied with this and intent on getting me inebriated. Or perhaps they were simply routing for my date. They insisted on bringing the rest of the glasses of wine, even though I said I couldn't drink anymore. It's not like I was asking the booze to be taken off the bill or anything.. what was the point in pouring out measures of quality vino so they could just be taken back and poured out.

Come to think of it... if I was a waitress I'd probably do the same and then down them on the way to the bins.

Upscale Indian - If you want flavour filled, spice laden Indian food in a posh environment this is the place to be. Though the dining room is a bit stark for an evening meal, the books surrounding the balcony give it a homey feel, as it used to be a library. I had the truffle and crab risotto (I know not Indian), but it was amazing. I did sample many of the Indian fairs with the mixed bread platter along with their chutney selection and yogurt and cucumbers. Perfect for a business lunch, especially if you want to impress and not put a major dent in your pocket book, as it can be on the expensive side.
