Horrible experience - Overall, my advice is...Don't go to them, especially if you're a student!
Our new agents now have proved to us that it wasn't us being too fussy about them. They're just horrible people! We were just ripped off from start to end!
They treat students absolutely poorly.
They charge double the fees per person than the other agents (£100 per form - tenancy and guarantor forms), whereas the others only charge £100 for both forms. Worst of all...their manager - Linda! She never smiles and looks angry all the time. Having paid over £1,100 in fees (non-returnable, not deposit!) to them when we moved in...all we ever got when we told them about blocked sewages was try pouring hot water down, have you done this?, have u tried that? and they didn't get anyone to fix it in the end.
We had informed them of a problem once we noticed its existence, and they sent us a letter days later warning us of having to report anything that happens within 24hours! Firstly, we did! And secondly, the problem will have to exist for some time before we are able to notice this. When we called them about this, Linda was still talking in her angry voice! They’ve now charged us for the redecoration of the walls because water has been leaking through it! Not our fault it wasn’t maintained properly by the landlord! They said we didn’t report this! Well we did once we noticed!
Now that we've moved out...we've further received a deduction of £500+ for fees and professional cleaning (even though I've literally cleaned everything! and got back to them lots of times about it. as a clean freak no one can question how much cleaning I’ve done. I’ve left it in a definite better condition than when they gave it to us).
We were apparently meant to have received a copy of an Inventory shortly after moving in, but as we are first time tenants, we did not know anything about this until the day of moving out when they’d given the outsourced company a copy of the original, unchanged version of the paper describing the condition of the house before we moved in, excluding our disagreement to their description of the house being newly decorated (even though the agent who showed us the ‘under construction house’ before we moved in said “imagine all this will be redecorated – the walls, the purple and green paintings in the bathroom and kitchen...etc., new windows...”) and when we moved in...They weren’t painted! And the windows were chipping off! This wasn’t included in the inventory the people had with them when we were moving out! And Linda blamed us for not requesting for an Inventory if we hadn’t received it, and insisted it must have been automatically sent out...etc.! We did not know anything about an Inventory! So why would we have asked for one?!
I am absolutely disappointed with their service, having remained optimistic that they would at least be nice to us sometime during our tenancy or even after we’ve moved out, I thought I'd give them a chance before such a review. I was, however, obviously wrong to think that as they’ve deducted so much off our deposit!
Linda should be ashamed of herself for being so "stuck-up" (I'm sorry, but that's the best description of her that I can think of right now). Even the lady signing us out of the house showed signs of her agreement towards our disappointment of Linda's attitude!
