In future I will use another firm.. - When choosing a solicitor it is important to go on recommendations of friends and family. You want someone who is very proficient in their field so they can give you peace of mind and a firm which takes clients concerns seriously, so if anything goes wrong they will try to rectify the matter. You also have to bear in mind if you are unlucky enough to find a firm which does not respond to client concerns, it is quite expensive and disruptive to engage another solicitor.

I instructed a £300/hr solicitor at Bolt Burdon because I wanted a very professional service and someone I could rely on for high quality advice. In my opinion, the service fell very short of expectations. I had to keep chasing the solicitor for key deliverables and when the engagement was completed I found areas of work I have instructed the firm on weeks before were incomplete without any justification. A bigger concern was that the solicitor kept coming to me with problems rather than providing solutions and I felt I was left to resolve issues myself, which did make me wonder what value I was getting for my money – naturally the firm was very prompt in sending me their legal bills. I also felt this firm was not good at meeting specific client instructions and tended to provide a one size fits all approach to the work.

While I have provided Bolt Burdon with feedback, I did not find they were responsive and they did not try to improve their client service for me. I hope they will take it seriously and improve service for other clients. However, I have grown a little cynical and doubt anything will change, so in future I will use another firm if I need good legal advice!
