Dim T London Reviews

I go dum dum for Dim Sum - Generally dim sum is not my idea of fine eating, but I have always appreciated the social benefits of sharing meals with friends and relatives, even if they're little steamed parcels of questionable origin. With that in mind, and on virtue of the fact that a dear friend, who’s completely addicted to dumplings of any sort and origin is leaving for pastures green, I set about looking for an appropriate venue. This is not exactly the biggest challenge in London, truth be told, with the like of Ping Pong and Dim T making their presence felt I decided to skip Ping Pong (on advice from another friend) and decided to try Dim T in Southwark instead... my reasoning was this: If I wasn't going to enjoy the food, I was damn well going to enjoy the view, good company and of course a few glasses (too many) - content in the knowledge that said friend would be in their 8th Buddhist heaven munching away at these little sometimes gelatinous par boiled monstrosities.

By now you probably get that I don't like dim sum, so you can imagine my surprise when tucking into the variety that was presented to us (and following some skilled and deft ordering from the dim sum aficionado I was fortunate to be with) I found myself enjoying some of them. Acknowledging that I may well have been a little too well watered by this point - the jury is still out on whether or not I become a Dim Sum disciple - but I can say this for Dim T in Southwark:
The view is great, but make sure you book a river facing table upstairs! These are sometimes a pain to get so book a couple of days in advance.
The staff are friendly and helpful, but the likelihood is that if you're going during the week, on a nice summer evening, you will be vying for their attention along with several dozen city types, don't be a shrinking violet and be assertive if you want service, otherwise you may feel slightly overlooked...
All in all, if you like dim sum and enjoy classic London views this might very well be the place for you. oh! They also have a selection of other dishes for those of us who are less open minded in their dislike of dim sum.
