The Alwyne Castle is a lively, welcoming pub with a huge range of beers (24 draught products!) wines and spirits. Great pub food served daily, from midday until 10pm.

The pub garden is unrivaled in the area, seating up to 300 people, and holding BBQs, hogroasts and sunny afternoon DJ sessions to keep you entertained.

A small group and I went along for the Pub Quiz held there on a Tuesday night. This pub has a huge outdoor area, which was perfect for the warm weather, as well as a spacious interior.

There was a reasonable selection of drinks available at the bar, althouth service was slow.
Punters can choose their favourite song from the juke box, which might help to pass the time while waiting for trivia to start an hour late. The quiz was fun, if you like questions about Britney's kids names...

The disappointing part of the night arrived even later- we waited about an hour for our shared platters to come along- we ordered two, and didn't realise till they arrived that one had been sitting under the heat lamp for a good half hour, waiting for the other one that must have been forgotten. What resulted was undoubtedly the worst, most dried out, shrivelled up pub food I have ever had- I was almost glad it was such a tiny portion and it didn't include everything it was meant to. The menu sounds enticing, but if I knew that I was ordering carrot and cucumber sticks, I would have asked my mum to pack me a lunch box.
