Bluu is aimed at affluent 30-somethings and serves a variety of tapas dishes and a constantly changing list of cocktails in addition to a lunch and dinner menu. They have a guest DJ from Thursday to Sunday, and the venue is available to hire for private functions. The contemporary decor gives it a good atmosphere, as do the friendly staff.

Kind of Obnoxious - Bluu was one of the first places I visited in Shoreditch, and it left a bad taste in my mouth. The bar (or is it a club?) is located on a crucial corner in Hoxton Square, the sort of place you might expect a really great performance space, pub or a proper rocking nightclub. Instead, you get Bluu, with its awkward miniature deck, annoying bouncers and overpriced drinks.
Inside, the place is somewhat cramped, and there were too many people the time I visited. Without sufficient seats for everybody, we kind of found our group cramped in a passageway, having to step aside constantly for people trying to reach the downstairs loos. While the bar did have a decent selection of beers and spirits, including San Miguel which I have been pleased to find in many a bar in London, there weren't enough bartenders to deal with the massive crush of wannabes trying to top up their pints of cider or hastily concocted mojitos (it was frigid outside, mind you, maybe the mojito was meant to transport them away to a tropical land?).
All in all, there's not really a lot to admire about this place. Overly loud music, obnoxious bouncers at the door, too few bartenders and too expensive drinks. Meh.
