Ffiona's London Reviews

Home Cooking in Kensington! - If you're looking for exquisite home cooking and a cosy atmosphere then look no further than ffiona's on Kensington Church Street. We had her fish pie and the rump of Welsh lamb served with homemade mint sauce. The fish pie was a revelation to me. Cod, salmon and haddock in a creamy bechamel sauce with hard boiled eggs, topped with mashed potatoes and lots of cheese that bubbles up in the oven making a fabulous 'crust'. Later, we shared her sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. It was all so good.I especially liked the fact that the menu reflects all pockets. My fish pie was £12.95 which I thought was very reasonable. Thanks to all at ffiona's for a memorable dinner.

Lovely Summer Dining - Great dinner at Ffiona's. We tried it for the first time on the recommendation of some friends. It's very personal and welcoming. We had asparagus, a salad with mint, feta cheese and figs and then some very nice fishcakes. It was good summer dining and we didn't feel rushed out the door.

Roast Beef Sunday Lunch at Ffiona's - Thoroughly good roast beef lunch at Ffiona's on sunday. Good quality beef, puffy and crisp yorkshire puddings and nice veg. My friend had eggs benedict from the brunch menu which she enjoyed too.

Perfect Poached Eggs! - At last there is somewhere that gets poached eggs exactly right! Cooked so that the white is firm and the yolk is liquid but slightly thickened! Fantastic! Even better that when I placed my order, I was offered a complimentary cocktail. I had a mary and it was very generous and spicy. Great place!

Set Menu was Good - Normally I avoid set menus. To me they go against the reason for going out, which is about limitless choice (well sort of). We ended up at Ffiona's last night and as we were a largish group, we decided to give Ffiona's set menu a try. At £22.95 it was quite reasonable.

We had a great meal - Calamari, cod or a chicken pie and apple crumble. It was like being at someone's house but without the washing up. Plus we had the pleasure of Ffiona's company who was fun as usual. Not a bad effort!

What Waffles Ffiona! - Wonderful waffles at Ffiona's brunch on Saturday. Crisp, piping hot from the waffle iron and covered in maple syrup, blueberries and strawberries. Bacon and eggs were good too.

Always a fabulous evening. - I have been to Ffiona's several times, with my partner and friends and it never fails to live up to expectations. The food is great - fresh, good quality and you get that feeling it has been cooked with love. The atmosphere is warm, cosy and relaxing with candlelight that makes you feel at home and I find Ffiona funny, genuine and passionate about what she does - if feels like she is welcoming you into her home. The people that go here obviously go back time after time, they 'get' Ffiona - if you want faceless, corporate service don't go!

The wine list is good, my favourtie tho' the Pink Greyhound....mmmm delicious....and the desserts are to die for, when we last went Blueberry & Apple Crumble with custard warm from the oven, absolutely perfect.

I would recommend to anyone, my favourite place in London.

Cosy, charming and relaxed - I stumbled across Ffiona's restaurant a couple of years ago and have never failed to be impressed at the quality of the food that is served. The menu has a good selection of meat, game, fish and vegetarian fare and the wine list is big enough to have something to suit every taste and budget without being overwhelming.

The restaurant itself is candle lit without being over schmoozy (suitable for a dinner with friends, business colleagues or for a special occasion) and has a musical theme. In the evenings there are tables that can seat a couple of groups of two on each or a larger group, or there are 4 and 2 seater individual tables. If you happen to be seated on one of the shared tables you don't feel like you've been crammed next to another couple as the table is divided by large jugs/vases of flowers.

I was pleased to see that the restaurant has started serving brunch and went along to see if the morning food could live up to the high standard of the dinner menu - I wasn't disappointed! The menu has all kinds of delicious things that are made to bust diets, such as full english breakfast, waffles, pancakes, toad in the hole, soup and salad amongst other items. The marys are TO DIE FOR!

I read with amusement the reviewer who commented that he got told off for not saying please when asking for something - I guess that means that as well as getting good food that lasts for a couple of hours, you also get a lesson in manners which lasts a lifetime!

I usually pay about £30 per person when I go, but if you eat there mid week there is a really good deal offering a set menu for £19. It isn't really a set menu because you can choose anything that you like off the main menu so it's a real credit crunch meal!

I have recommended the place to a few friends and I only ever got back positive reports. I'd recommend it to anyone who is fed up of mediocre food served by anonymous characterless waiting staff... This place is a definite keeper.

Great Brunch at Ffiona's - Went to Ffiona's last weekend in Kensington Church Street. She is now serving brunch on Saturdays and Sundays.

Ffiona herself greeted us warmly and we hunkered down in a corner with the Sunday newspapers. I had a great Eggs Benedict and the eggs were cooked to perfection. My greedy friend had a cooked breakfast and American pancakes and they were really good. We were tempted by the marys but we had work to do later so had cappuccinos instead.

Great place and great atmosphere. Very chilled and relaxed.
