Southwark Tavern is an unusual pub in that it opens for a few hours in the mornings as there is a vegetable market next door. Other than that (when is is open for regular pub hours) it is a traditional pub with a fire place and fruit machines. They only serve food in the afternoon and offer a selection of beers, ales and spirits. Catering for private parties of up to 50 people is available upon request.

Southwark Tavern London Reviews

nice pub, good location - wow, i didn't have as strong feelings compared to the last person who reviewed it! I actually quite liked the pub - it was cosy with a downstairs cellar bar which had nice booths and dim lighting. Good music and old fashioned, typically english decor contradicted by the bright pink/glittery toilets! Many meals available for a fiver and, although i didnt eat, the selection was good. The barman was pretty unfriendly but apart from that i was happy!

Tramps Piss? No thanks! - Ok, so i'm looking for somewhere to eat before my evening shift and I think of the southwark tavern. The menu is large and looks quite appetising.
I order a half of mordue something-or-other, presumably a golden ale of some kind and the guy behind the bar pours it. The beer looks terrible, you can't see through it, it looks like he's taken a wee in gthe thames and then scooped a glass up just for little old me. he puts it on the bar and starts looking for it on the till, and looking, meanwhile I'm waiting for the beer to clear, looking.....nothing, nishte, nada. so two minutes of this I say to him, can you pour me a london pride instead because this is cloudy, the reply is 'in a minute, i'm still trying to find this one' pointing to the cloudy piss-like substance in the glass.
I tell him that i'm not paying for that as it smells like vinegar and looks like a tramp has pissed in the glass. He doesn't seem to understand so i call the duty manager over and she pours me a half of london price(yuk). I go and sit down with my half, now convinced I will never eat there and notice that instead of taking the beer off sale, the pumpclip(badly scribbled on a bit of plain paper) is still facing the customers, I shake my head, down my beer and leave in search of scran.
Sertvice in this pub is patchy at best, at the moment it's gone right downhill. one to avoid
