Going nutty over queuing - For those of us who resolutely refuse to partake in any form of Internet banking, we're consequently condemned to dealing with our local branch like this one.

How immensely frustrating it is to witness Abbey's decision to have only two cashier tills at every branch, and gleefully subjecting the poor souls to waste up to half an hour of their lives by queuing week in week out for trivial matters like depositing a cheque of little value. These poor souls are generally OAPs or the sadly neglected computer-less caste. To make matters worse, like supermarket check-outs these cashiers are also a magnet for, you've guessed it, small talk. I mean who wants to know that Mrs Farquhar's kitty turned eleven the other day.

I think I'm going to buy myself a substantial mattress instead and store the wad under it. The slightest thought of coming here again makes me, for want of a better word, despondent. 16-01-09
